The Indie Glow-Up! Vol 6: It's Festival Time
Shit, you gotta glow one day! It just takes some time.
Mic Check, One Two, One Two 🎤 💭
Ya’ll, ya boy is so excited, tired, flustered, and joyous all at the same time. The Music festival that I produce is literally days away, and I couldn’t be more exited about it! I have put in so much work to make this thing happen. I mean sleepless nights and overworked days. I have been the production director, coordinator, booking agent, marketing lead, logistical organizer, and the list goes on. My partner is always telling me that I can’t do it all myself, and to be honest I know that she is right, but there is something about trusting people to do what they say they are going to do that I still struggle with.
To make it in anything, you have to have a team. There should be a time when you can actually delegate your needs to other people, and trust that they are going to get it done to the best of their ability. But when funds are low, and you cant pay people (I believe firmly in paying people.) sometimes you gotta do that shit yourself. Period. No if and or buts about it.
In the years that I have been going at this festival 99% on my own, I have developed so many new skills that I have never had before. Skills that I think equipment me to be effective as a production director/coordinator, a&r, booking agent, and of course artist. I am thankful that I get the opportunity to live out my life doing the thing that I love. Music.
Does it get hard and frustrating? Of course, but when you love it, that stuff can be dealt with. I guess what i’m trying to say is, if you have the money to delegate, and you trust the people around you, then let people help you…But if you dont have the funds, and you have to go at it alone for awhile, make sure you love the process. Make sure you fall in love with learning again; and regardless of how hard it may get, remember why you are doing what you are doing in the first place. It’s because you love this shit!

One of the mantras I live by is, “Your process is your own”. While that’s true, I also think there’s a lot of value and community to be gained from hearing about others’ processes & Stories, and that’s in part why we have the ESMAF Fireside talks with industry professionals and artists from all over the music business!
All talks and panels are online, and they will also be recorded! So even if you grab the ticket and have to miss it, with your purchase, you will still have access to them forever! Or as long as the internet is around lol. Check out our speakers below, and grab you tickets today!
